| Background
Since its inception, MSCS has grown rapidly and this has created a major challenge in terms of developing and continuously improving the skills of all team members. To do this, we established a small training unit in 1996 under the direction of the Programme Development Manager with a remit to develop regular, needs-based training.

MSCS uses both internal and external trainers
During the initial phase, we only conducted in-house training on reproductive tractinfections / sexually transmitted infections (RTI/STIs).This course was developed by a core clinical team of three; all of whom had studied non only in Bangladesh but also abroad as well.
As we continued to expand, the need to provide a broader range of training, whilst still maintaining quality, emerged. To do this, we developed a team of experienced trainers who could provide courses on a variety of reproductive health issues. These were designed both in-house and with external help. As our experience and reputation grew, we opened the courses up not only to other Marie Stopes International partners but also to other Bangladesh based and international organizations. For example, since 1998 we have provided training on RTI/STIs and maternal health to paramedics from the National Integrated Program for Health and Population (NIPHP). These sessions are both supported, and closely monitored, by PRIME, a US based NGO which aims to improve the skills of primary providers.
We have provided training to providers of Urban Family Health Partnership
Urban Family Health Partnership (UFHP)
Rural Service Delivery Partnership (RSDP)
Bangladesh Population Health Consoltium (BPHC)
