| In 1995, we established two units specifically for men in our Dhaka-I and Dhaka II clinics. These units were opened in response to the demand to treat partners of women with reproductive tract infections / sexually transmitted infections. MSCS is a pioneer in setting up these types of units. Due to demand, we further expanded our services for men in two of the EC/UNFPA funded clinics in Narshindi and Tongi. These services began in January 2000 and now see around 400 clients each month.

Men often with require intensive counseling to remove misconceptions
We also identified the need for psychosexual counseling which led us to become the first, and only, organization in Bangladesh to introduce this service for men. Three clinics are now run by specialist clinical psycholists, male doctors and male counselors and the service has proved very popular. At this stage of time, around 300 male clients seek services in each of these 4 male MSCS clinics per month.
We also train the non-formal practitioners in and around the catchment areas with the objectives of improving the quality of service offered and encouraging cross-referrals.
The European Commission is now giving support to the 4 male clinics to expand their outreach and BCC services, as well as the general running of the clinics.
